June 30 - drywall and cabinet-building

Recent weeks have involved minor projects that are not picture worthy, followed by drywall hanging mainly performed by Dave.

This weekend we finished up the drywall, pretty much, and started building cabinets in the garage.

Andy was nice enough to let me handle the drywall sanding:

Days 5-6 - June 13-14 - lots of stuff

The last couple of days have involved a lot of wiring, which is less exciting picture-wise.  Our crooked, hole-y north wall was framed, and the stove installed.

Here's the scene at the end of Day 6:

The wall framed:

Action shots of work on the west wall:

The west wall is plaster and yielded a ton of debris even though only a relatively small part of it was distubed.  A small portion of the damage is above.

Getting the stove inside was a major accomplishment... very heavy.  No action shots of that part.  Men at work / father-son bonding:

Success!

Day 4 - June 12 - DUMP

Today the old window was removed and two trips were taken to the dump.  Additional time was occupied with filling holes, light electrical work, and the consumption of fermented beverages at an off-site location.  Old stove sold on Craigslist and the remaining old cabinets given away for free.

Day 3 - June 11 - window and doors

Today was the first FULL day of work.  If Dave Krech is present, "full day" means before 7 a.m. until after 9 p.m. with no breaks.  The project was removing the door, installing the new door, and installing the big new window.

This was the progress as of 8 a.m.:

Somebody named Ross Olson had nice handwriting and signed a whole bunch of the wood that got torn out today:

Day 2 - June 10 - drywall and electric

 Day 2, Dave's arrival.

A fun little present between layers of drywall is shown above.

Below, progress within 3 hours of Dave's arrival.

And some late-night figurin' about where everything is going to go, and also whether the house will fall down.

Sold some more of the old cabinets.  Nobody wants our old stove!

Day 1 - June 9 - clean, pack, demolition

Actually we started packing a few days ago.  All the demo occurred Sunday, June 9.  Also sold the fridge, dishwasher, and some of the old cabinets on Craigslist.

The current sink and cabinet above will remain in place during construction.

Dave arrives Monday morning to start the real work.

Day 0

For comparison purposes... the "before" from the real estate listing before we bought the joint.
